The Right Fit

Where do you buy your clothes? Whether it be H&M, Zara or just thrift shops, everybody has a favorite place to go where they can pick out clothing for their unique styles. I want you to think about your favorite garment of clothing; picture it right now. Do you like it because it's comfy, or it just looks good on you? Do you wear it often? There is a fine line between comfy and fashionable, and you can acquire "fashionable" with the fitting of your clothing. Take suits for example. If a person is in an oversized suit, it just looks untidy and unprofessional, and a tight suit just creates the feeling of uncomfort. There is a reason that tailors make a living off of adjusting suits, because it is not their job to just make the suit look good, but the person wearing it as well. And a person looks good, neat and even sexy in a suit that fits them right.

Now let's talk about how to know if something fits. Fit doesn't mean that the garment has to be skin tight or revealing. One way of telling if something fits is the seamline. If the seamline doesn't sit on the bend of your shoulder, a top won't fit right. Same goes for pant seemliness, especially around the butt. The seamline needs to be in the right place.

Don't get me wrong, there can be bagginess in a piece of clothing with the outfit looking good. The trick is balance. If you are wearing an oversized top, try to make your bottoms tight around the waist and thighs. And if your bottoms are baggy around the butt, then keep it classy with a well fitting top. You want to have your clothing working with your figure, and your figure working with your clothes.

Now if you remember anything from this article, let it be this. You need to know your body type. The only way for your figure to work with your clothes, is knowing what your figure is and what kind of clothes fit that. If you have breasts or no breast, work your clothing around your body. Look up celebrities or models with you same body type and see what types of clothing work for them and make them look good. The most important thing with fit is knowing what you can wear that fits you and makes you look the best you can.

Walk with confidence!
